Exchange Escort Overview
Escort: the unofficial leader of an Outbound exchange, typically an American ACYPL alum.
Being an ACYPL Escort is a unique opportunity for dedicated alumni to take on a leadership role during an Outbound exchange. As an Escort, you’ll play a vital part in ensuring the success of the program while building meaningful connections with your fellow delegates.
This prestigious role is typically offered to American ACYPL alumni who have remained involved since their initial delegation. Legacy Level Alumni Council members are given special consideration for this role.
Additionally, since ACYPL alumni generally only travel once with the program, serving as an Escort offers a rare chance to have a second ACYPL experience.
Responsibilities of an ACYPL Escort:
Host a Pre-Departure Dinner: welcome the delegation with a pre-departure dinner in Washington, DC, setting the tone for a successful exchange.
Serve as Group Leader: Ensure the delegation arrives on time at all meetings and events, fostering a positive and professional environment.
Maintain Regular Communication: Stay in contact with your assigned ACYPL Program Officer throughout the exchange to provide updates and address any concerns.
Act as Liaison and Troubleshooter: Collaborate with ACYPL’s partner organization to support the group and resolve issues.
Participate in a Post-Trip Debrief: Share your insights and experiences during a debrief call with ACYPL staff after the exchange.
Serving as an escort allows alums to deepen their connection with ACYPL, expand their global network, and gain leadership experience in an international context. Serving as an Escort is a rewarding way to give back to ACYPL while contributing to its mission of fostering international understanding.
